he African Revolution Band was established in May 1999. African Revolution Band descended as a splinter group from the African Beat Band led by Mafumu Bilali Bombenga, whereby the African Beat Band is also a splinter group of the most popular band "the African Stars Band" - Wana Twanga Pepeta. The Band's second phase was officially inaugurated on Tuesday 7th August 2001 at New Silent Inn Club, together with their first Album known as "MAISHA KITENDAWILI". The album has six Songs; Tunda Special, Mtumai cha Nduguye, Maisha Kitendawili, Mjomba Njaa, Mapendo, and Shangingi la Karne. Other Albums produced by The Band are MGUMBA(2002) USIA WA BABA(2003) and DIKODIKO(2005)

AFRIKWETU is composed by the words ‘AFRI’ and ‘KWETU’, Swahili slang meaning Africa is our home. The choice of this name shows how proud we with our African roots and the positive development of our music.

AS a young boy growing up in Kigoma Region, he looked up to Verkys Kiamangwana Mateta, one of the most influential figures in the history of Congolese music. He idolized the Congolese music maestro, who developed his own honking, gutbucket style of saxophone playing, which characterized most of the exciting music of the 1960s and 1970s. Bombenga has featured for a number of bands, but scores of music fans still associate him with Dar International band, one of the groups that took the Tanzanian music scene by storm in the early 1980s After doing rounds in many other groups, including Kilimanjaro band, the multi-talented musician decided to form his own group ? African Beats band. That is Mafumu Bilal ?Bombenga? for you. ?Super Sax,? as he is fondly referred to by his adoring fans, is one of only a handful of local musicians who have managed to emblazon Tanzania?s name in the world of music. `

The African Stars Band" Twanga Pepepeta" was established on the 1st of July 1994 at Bahari Beach Hotel in Dar es Salaam. The Band plays "Twanga Pepeta" beats- (Dancing style of the band) in Swahili. Others are Rhumba, Zouk, Chacha, Ndombolo, Blues, Soca, etc all in Swahili, French, English, Spanish and Congolese-Lingala. Most of the songs have featured in the Top Ten charts. It is an open secret that The African Stars Band is the leading live Music Band in Tanzania. As it was the case during the MK Group era which had two sister bands known as the M.K. Beats and The M.K.
