Duty Description

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement EHS strategy
• Develop implement and review H&S policy and procedures
• The jobholder will also manage and audit H&S regulatory / corporate compliance and report / investigate incident / accident and near misses
• Provide expert advice on EHS matters to Management
• Tasked with monitoring and evaluation of EHS implementation plans
• Investigate complaints relating to employees’ health and safety
• Inspect / audit the workplace health and safety tools and equipment
• Develop health and safety programmes / systems to ensure compliance by all employees
• Identify safety training needs, organise and coordinate EHS trainings
• Develop, manage emergency response systems in accordance with the local regulation

Required Qualifications

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

• The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised University
• Certificate training in Environment, Health & Safety
• A minimum of four years of experience in a similar role in a large organisation
• Registration with professional / regulatory organisation as an expert or advisor
• Knowledge of local, international and security sector legislation
• A disciplined and responsible person of integrity
• Must be a Ugandan citizen or permanent resident
• Excellent communication and people management skills
• Customer and result oriented
• Objective, decisive and pay attention to detail
