About US:
Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT) is a Public Tertiary Institution established by Statutory Instrument No. 79 of October, 2005, and managed and operated by Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) according to the UCC Act, 2013.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Overseeing management of Income, expenditure, stores, assets and administration of staff in the Finance department of the Institute.
- Keenly review and implement financial and accounting management information procedures and policies of the Institute and ensure compliance.
- The jobholder will also prepare, coordinate and monitor the implementation of the Institute budget.
- Ensure timely preparation of financial reports and statements.
- Tasked with the maintenance of sound financial accounting systems, records keeping and internal controls and be accountable for an up-to-date inventory of all the Institute assets.
- Ensure bank reconciliation and bank balance monitoring system is operational up to date.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors and enable them conduct audit.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned to him/her from time to time by the Principal.
Key Results Areas:
- Financial statements and reports.
- Good Financial Management and control practices.
- Optimum utilization and safeguard of Institute assets and resources.
- Sustainable revenue mobilization, collection and expenditure controls.
- Financial reporting in accordance with Public Finance & Accountabilities Act, 2003
- Statutory audit completed and Auditor’s reports issued.
- Effective communication characterized by timely response to financial information needs.
- Career advancement and mentorship of staff in the Finance Department.
Required Qualifications
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The prospective employee should preferably hold a Bachelor of Commerce, Business Administration degree both with Accounting option or Finance and Accounting degree with a full professional accounting qualifications such as CPA or ACCA, CIMA.
- At least five years’ experience as an accountant, two of which must have been at Management level in a tertiary Institution.
- Personal Attributes: Integrity, Interpersonal skills, Communication skills and Analytical skills
- Technical Attributes: Use of Computerized accounting systems, risk management, knowledge on financial reporting standards and debt management.
