JOB PURPOSE

To manage and oversee all aspects of the production department ensuring that consistently high quality products are baked, decorated and packed,  reach customers on time, through a highly efficient, effective and innovative production department.

1. Finance and Administration To achieve a positive return for the shareholders and meet the agreed financial objectives
  • To actively drive sales, recruit new customers, retain existing customers and increase the ACPC (average cheque per customer). Bring in sales of at least 600,000 per month.
  • To maximise revenue by ensuring all value-added products and services are correctly charged for and collected from customers, and that inputs are in line with the value charged to the customer.
  • To safeguard the company's resources through design, implementation and enforcement of strong controls, ensuring financial loss does not arise out of poor administration, poor stock control, failure to meet quality, health and safety standard, failure to effectively safeguard and maintain stocks, equipment and other company assets.
  • To maintain proper books of account for all production activities, and maintain strong control of production operations to meet the financial objectives of the Company.
  • To effectively manage the Supply Chain ensuring that stock levels are adequate and balanced with working capital. There must be no stock outs of inputs, and there must be full accountability for all stock issued.
2. Quality To produce consistently high quality products, on time, in accordance with Company standards, to the delight of the customer
  • To ensure adherence to all applicable standards and policies including internal operational manuals, hygiene, health & safety, KCCA and UNBS standards. Standards must be upheld all day, every day.
  • To define and enforce quality standards in production, ensuring accurate documentation and periodic updates as required of all recipes and manuals; Training and continuously reinforce these to staff.
  • To drive a high quality, "right-first-time" culture in the team.
  • To control quality throughout the production process from sourcing, to baking and decorating, to dispatch.
3. Customer Service To wow the customer through exceptional customer service
  • To drive a highly customer-centric culture throughout the team, and lead by example
  • To maintain excellent customer relationships through effective communication and delivery of high quality products, on time, to meet or exceed the customer's expectations.
  • To positively interact with customers and create an excellent customer experience
  • To promptly address any customer complaints and put measures in place to avoid repeat of incidents that may lead to customer complaints.
4. Innovation To foster a highly innovative and creative culture throughout the Company
  • To ensure that team members have sufficient time and resources to continuously research, innovate and improve, so as to Wow the customer.
  • To assign innovation deliverables to team members and track development and release of new products onto the menu.
  • To lead by example in continuous research, development, new ideas particularly healthier options - gluten free, sugar free, egg free options. The post holder should seek to release a minimum of 6 innovations a year (i.e. Every 2 months). This could be a new baked product, a health product, a new decorating technique, a cost saving measure e.g. make our own intermediate ingredient.
5. Teamwork (& Communication To be a highly efficient, effective, self-motivated team member, consistently delivering high quality products and services to Wow the Customer
  • To effectively manage the production staff cycle from recruitment, training & development, performance management, and exits, nurturing a highly engaged, high-performing team.
  • To drive a culture of customer-first, “right-first-time", with high quality, collaboration and self-motivation.
  • To promptly and effectively manage any issues that may affect the team's performance.
    Communication:
  • To provide prompt, clear, unambiguous and effective communication to all stakeholders through the appropriate communication channels; Respond clearly and promptly to messages; provide proactive updates and feedback.
  • To be a highly effectively member of the Admin team making a strong and impactful contribution to the sustainable, profitable growth of the Company.
  • To be highly effective on both baking and decorating stations. Where your strength lies in one area, you must be able to do the basics on the other station.
  • To effectively manage the team on a day to day basis including work scheduling, annual leave, training, and work-life balance.

Required Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

1. University graduate or Diploma holder in Foods & Beverages, Food science or related discipline.
2. Experience in baking, patisserie, cake decorating, food processing.
3. Artistic flair an added advantage.
4. Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft office suite
5. Fluency in spoken/written English.
6. High integrity and strong character.
7. Proven leadership skills, with ability to direct and manage staff, develop and coach staff to deliver their best.
8. Excellent communicator with strong customer service orientation.
9. Strong administrative skills, highly organized, with excellent time management and attention to detail.
10. Proactive self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude.
11. Business-oriented individual capable of developing and implementing strategies to grow the business profitably and sustainably.
12. Minimum 2 years relevant working experience.
