In an effort to improve the competitiveness of Zimbabwe’s industries and products, a study was conducted to evaluate the major cost drivers affecting the local industry. The study covered eight cost drivers which are labour, power, water, finance, transport and trade logistics; tariffs and trade taxes as well as information communication technology. Having identified the cost drivers affecting the local industry, the Government of Zimbabwe went on to come up with the Zimbabwe National Competitiveness Report (ZNCR) which was launched by the Vice President, Honourable Emmerson D. Mnangagwa on the 29th of October 2015. The ZNCR is a selected compendium of data and interpretation that informs by analyzing a region or nation’s current economic standing and framework and assesses how it performs relative to other countries.
