Before Airtel Burkina...

Celtel Burkina was a subsidiary of a multinational, Mobile System Investments (MSI).

Multinational Mobile System Investments, structure advice in the installation of networks, world famous, was created by the Sudanese Mohamed Ibrahim. This company becomes-Mobile System International Cellular Investments (MSI-CI) in 1998, with offices in 17 countries.

MSI-CI had no office in Africa because investors had a poor image of this part of the world. Conscious of the existing potential and limitations of fixed telephony in Africa and convinced that African have the same communication requirements that Western, MO Ibrahim promised to take the risk and deploy this technology in Africa.

Headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the multinational operates with the support of some donors such as the Commonwealth Development Corporate, International Finance Corporation (IFC), MSI Cellular Investments, a branch of MSI, Word Phone, African Infrastructure Fund (AIG), which were interested in the activity, also experienced the same year significant growth of its customers.

Under the name Celtel, this multinational mission was to create a pan-African mobile telephony in Africa. Thus, In 1998, Celtel began operations on the continent, covering one third of the African population.

Celtel Burkina SA officially began commercial operations January 1, 2001, with the slogan "Have your say". On January 19, 2004, MSI Cellular Investments changed its name to Celtel International. Celtel International wants a pan-African brand through its new slogan "Making life better".

In April 2005, Celtel International was acquired by a group called Kuwaiti Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) and on 1 August 2008, Celtel International has a new name, Zain.

Celtel Burkina, operating under the Zain brand, promised to continue its expansion, while providing easy access to communication for those who aspire to do more, hence its valued customers through its new slogan "A Wonderful World ".

On November 18, 2010, Celtel Burkina, operating under the Zain brand becomes Airtel Burkina Faso SA, with the slogan, "To be free".

 

Airtel Burkina, is a subsidiary of the Indian group Bharti Airtel Limited.

Founded by Indian Sunil Bharti Mittal's Bharti Airtel Limited is one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world with operations in 20 countries in Africa and Asia. Based in New Delhi, India, the company is among the four largest mobile operators in the world in terms of number of subscribers. In India, it offers various services: including 2G and 3G mobile services, fixed line, ADSL broadband, IPTV and DTH, and solutions for enterprises and national and international long distance services to telephone operators .

In other markets, it provides 2G and 3G mobile services and mobile commerce. Bharti Airtel had over 299 million subscribers across its markets in late May 2014. In Africa, the group operates in Burkina Faso, Congo, Gabon, Kenya, DRC, Madagascar, Malawi, Niger, Nigeria, Uganda, Rwanda, Seychelles, Tanzania, Chad, Sierra Leone and Zambia.

Ben Cheick Haidara, CEO

Ben Cheick Haidara was appointed CEO of Airtel Burkina Faso, with effect from 1 August 2014, he was CEO of Etisalat Benin since September 2011; it happens at Airtel with strong gains in management and experience in finance in the telecommunications sector. Prior to joining Etisalat Benin, he worked as CFO of Telecel Burkina Faso between October 2000 and July 2006, before hold the position of CFO of Atlantique Telecom Gabon from July 2006 to February 2007. He became CEO of Telecel Burkina Faso in February 2007, then CEO of Prestige Telecom in Ivory Coast between March and September 2008 and later CEO of Atlantique Telecom Niger in October 2008 to August 2011. He holds a Master of Management MSG Institute and a Graduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance from the DESS Institute Ouagadougou University and an MBA in Business Administration from HEC Paris, France

 

Abdramane DIALLO,

Director of Marketing

Training Telecoms engineer, began his career Abdramane unsurprisingly in the telecoms industry in 2002, the side of the control (ARTEL then consultant to the WAEMU). In November 2005, Abdramane exchange board to join the team Products the mobile operator Celtel Burkina (now Airtel). Promoted to Head of Products in 2007, he participated in the launch of VAS and Data solutions that will help establish the brand awareness as a leader in innovation. In March 2009, he joined the Segments department, responsible for the strategy and actions for different market segments (corporate and SME / SMI, general public). Abdramane was promoted Celtel Senior Marketing Manager Chad SA in April 2010 then Marketing Director in June 2010. Since January 2012, Abdramane has returned to Burkina airtel as Director Marketing for a new challenge. Married and father of a little boy, Abdramane love beautiful football of Barca.

 

Obed Yao AHORKONU, CFO.

NAON Raymond, Director of Human Resources

As of January 26, 2015. Mr. NAON joined us from the Nestlé Group, where he was previously "Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP)" for the support function. Raymond NAON joined Nestlé in 2006 to manage the Department of Human Resources Cluster Savanna covering Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Togo, Benin and Mauritania. During his tenure, Raymond has supported the establishment of new operating companies to the cluster, making sure to recruit good talent to support the development of the business in these countries. He also led several projects to increase employee engagement, such as medical coverage (co-payment), the provident fund etc.

In 2010 he was promoted to Regional Director of Recruitment for West and Central Africa region, based at the headquarters in Accra. In this role, Raymond was in charge of developing the team's capabilities "talent selection";launching the e-recruitment tool Nestlé, as well as manage the localization project of the 'employer brand' Nestlé. After 4 years, Raymond has been appointed to the position of Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) for support functions. He brought a lot of innovation to the function and role of HRBP giving its support to Heads of Departments both strategically and operationally.

 

Adama KONE, Director of Sales

D ince February 1, 2015. Mr. Adama KONE joins us from MTN. 

Adama KONE totals 15 years of professional experience in the telecom sector, specifically at MTN Ivory Coast and has a good knowledge and understanding of issues and issues of telecom markets in Africa. 

He built a solid experience and expertise in the definition, animation and supervision of network development strategies, sales channels and distribution of telecom products and services both in Ivory Coast and in other subsidiaries MTN. It is Commercial Engineer and holds an Executive MBA from the University Paris Dauphine.

 

Obadiah Coulibaly, IT Director

He was promoted to IT Manager of Airtel Burkina in August 2007 after holding the position of IT Manager since 2004. A graduate of the Engineering School of Dakar (ENSUT), it combines a seventeen years of experience in positions of technical and IT responsibilities. He started his career as Inspector General IBM regulation, then he was successively Head of Internet service in the first private ISP Burkina (Liptinfor) and Technical Manager for CFAO Technologies Solutions Division before joining Celtel Burkina Faso. "

 

Christian KINIALI, Director of Operations

Christian Kiniali joined Airtel Burkina Faso as Technical Director since the month of June 2014  

With over 24 years of experience in the field of Telecommunications, Christian KINIALI joined Airtel (Celtel) since 2001 after having successively worked at the Office Congolais Post and Telephone (fixed operator DR Congo) and in Libertis Telecom (now MTN) in Brazzaville. 

At Airtel He held several managerial positions in the technical department (Operations & Maintenance, Network Performance, Optimization, Engineering, Planning & Design) in several Airtel operations before being promoted to technical director. He held this role for Airtel in Congo Brazza 2007-2009, DR Congo from 2010-2011 and Niger from 2012 to 2014. 

Trainer of his state, he helped form several talents that are the pride of the team Technical Airtel Africa. 

Christian Kiniali carries an Engineering degree in Electro-Mechanics of the Higher Institute of Applied Techniques of Kinshasa and a Telecoms Engineer degree from the Telecom Training School of Kinshasa.

 

Daouda Sanou, Director of Regulatory and Legal Affairs

Holds a Specialized Higher Studies Diploma in Business Law obtained at the University of Ouagadougou in 1994, Mr Sanou has a total work experience of over 15 years in senior positions. He began his career in 1995 as Head of the Legal Department of a development project funded by the European Union in Burkina Faso, the Support Programme for Small and Medium Enterprises of Burkina Faso PAPME). He was instrumental in the creation and development of the Legal Service of PAPME he will remain responsible for 7 consecutive years. He then continued his career in Burkina and Shell (a company of Shell Oil Products of Africa, African representation of the Royal Dutch Group Shell) in August 2002 as Legal Advisor -where it will remain Head of Legal for 4 years. During his presence at Shell he was brought Shell companies serving Togo and Benin (April-September 2005) and Shell companies in Côte d'Ivoire (January-October 2006) still as Legal Advisor, concurrently with his functions in Burkina Faso. He joined Celtel Burkina Faso precisely November 2, 2006 as Corporate Lawyer where he contributed to the development of the Legal Department, before being promoted on 1 November 2010 as Director of Regulatory and Legal Affairs.

 

Ndiwum YAI, SCM Director

Mr. Yai Ndiwum joined Airtel Burkina SCM Head as from 1 May 2015. Yai just Airtel Chad, where he was Head SCM since October 2011. It accounts for over 13 years professional experience in various industrial sectors such as supplies industrials, Great Consumer Products (FMCG) and Telecoms. 

Before joining Airtel Chad in 2011, Yai was Purchasing Manager at DIAGEO PLC Cameroon. 

He holds an MBA in International Business from the University of Coventry, England member and graduate of "Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS)".
