The first New Era Montessori School was established in September 1999 when 6 Nursery School pupils were enrolled at Mbezi Beach, Makonde Area in Dar es Salaam within a timeframe of four years the number of pupils increased to 80 pupils, by the end of the year 2002. In January 2003, the first intake of Grade 1 students was made from the Pre-Unit Class of 2002 that was promoted to Grade 1 in 2003. About 20 students were enrolled in Grade 1. The enrollment increased to about 200 pupils by the end of the year 2008.

Due to lack of adequate premises at Mbezi Beach Makonde location was not possible to continue admitting additional student at that location. 5 years later at the end of 2008, the School moved to Mbweni JKT Area on Plot No. 173 where a 7 acres of registered land had been demarcated by Kinondoni Municipal Council to be an area for education purposes. This is the present location of the School. In January 2009, both Nursery and Primary were moved from Mbezi Beach Makonde
