About The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), since the opening of its office in Chad in 1977, provides support to countries to improve food security and sustainable rural development in the face of crisis climate and recurrent food and nutrition security. The multifaceted FAO actions aimed at creating an enabling environment to improve in a sustainable manner on the technical, social and environmental conditions of existence of small producers very vulnerable to various risks rampant in Chad. In order to strengthen the quality of partnership that has always existed between the Chadian Government and FAO Country Programming Framework (CDPF) has set priorities to be achieved during the five years of the country program cycle (2012- 2016). It continues the efforts already initiated during the formulation of the NMTPF. The CPP was developed with the close involvement of four ministries following a participatory approach: Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, Ministry of Pastoral Development and Animal Production, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources and the responsible Hydraulics Urban and Rural. This document is the result of close collaboration between the different actors and partners of Rural Development (technical and financial partners in Chad, civil society and the private sector) and several experts in decentralized offices and FAO Headquarters.
