The Addis Ababa City Council was established in 2008. The city Council Consists of 138 Seats of which 72 are males and the remaining 66 are females. The Council is administerdby three administrators, the Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Secretary. The Council enacts laws on issues falling within its jurisdiction. It also supervises, evaluates, and supports the executives which are found within the city administration. The council comprises of five standing committe which are responsible for various sectors that are found in the city.Primarilly the city council is responsible for enacting laws and proclamations that falls within its circle.It is also bound to formulate policies and public announcements that are important and believed to be paramount for the overall political ,economic and social development of the city as vested responsibility by the city administrations charter proclamation N0.361/2003.
