SOCOCIM Industries: No. 1 in West Africa. A modern industry, efficient and environmentally friendly.

In 2007, SOCOCIM Industries launched its investment plan of 130 billion CFA francs for the period 2008-2009. Our goal was twofold: to make SOCOCIM the most modern cement plant in Africa and to provide Senegal and the West African cement production capacity to meet the expectations of the markets and countries in the region for decade.

Today, these objectives are achieved and by integrating all aspects of modern industry, efficient and environmentally friendly. Thanks to investments made by the Vicat Group, we provide domestic and regional markets over 3.5 million tonnes of cement, making Industries SOCOCIM the most powerful cement plant in West Africa. The plant can thus cover the entire national market and exported over one million tons to markets in West Africa. Our tool thus ensures total independence cement in Senegal and can even satisfy widely the markets of neighboring countries.

More than ever, SOCOCIM Industries remains the historic jewel of Senegalese and West African industry it has been continuously for over 60 years.

 

 

History

Nearly 70 years of expertise in the construction service

 

Once upon a time

On May 28, 1948, the Company lime and cement was created by André Rufisque Lindenmeyer following a study trip to Senegal. It had a capital of 30 million and its production capacity was 40 000 tonnes per year. In 1978, lime and cement company is nationalized and became the Societe Commerciale cement: SOCOCIM INDUSTRIES.

 

The entry into the modern era

In August 1999, the plant becomes the property of the French Group Vicat and that was the beginning of a modernization with many investments. The Vicat group was created by Louis Vicat who invented artificial cement in 1817. The group has thus an historical expertise in cement production.

 

Performance 2010 plan

The purpose of this major investment plan for 150 billion CFA francs is dubbed "Performance 2010". These investments were primarily directed towards increasing the capacity to support growth in the consumption of cement in Senegal and the sub-region, improved plant productivity and integration into its environment. This plan allowed the SOCOCIM moving to a production of 3.5 million tons per year thus putting at the disposal of Senegal and West Africa Industries cement production capacity to meet the expectations of the markets country and sub-region for decades to come. Today, these objectives are achieved integrating all aspects of modern industry, efficient and environmentally friendly.
