In 1960, on the accession of the Republic of the Congo to independence, Equatorial Office of Posts and Telecommunications (the OEPT ) is dislocated to see if instead create four years later, three structures the first two merged in 1979:

- The Office of International Telecommunications of Congo (INTELCO)

- The National Office of Post and Telecommunications (ONPT)

- The National Savings Bank Branch

Ordinance No. 08-2001 of July 1, 2001 ONPT dissolves and gives birth to two other entities:

- the Company of Post and Savings of Congo (SOPECO) by Ordinance No. 10-2001 of July 1, 2001

- the Telecommunications Company of Congo (SOTELCO) by Ordinance No. 11-2001

Two years later, the Presidential Decree of 28 February 2003 applied 3 March 2003 due to a one-man limited company SOTELCO (UAA) with a capital of FCFA 5.2 billion headed by a Director General.

CONGO TELECOM born August 18, 2009 to overcome all the difficulties that hinder its development.

Achievements

Congo is now connected to the information superhighway and communication by optical fiber.

The main achievements may be noted:

- Training of staff for operation and maintenance of systems

- Bilateral cooperation between the two public telecommunication operators in the DRC and the Republic of Congo has resulted in a cable connection under-river optical fibers.

- Participation in the seminar of ICT under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications.

- The creation of a new sales office in downtown Brazzaville.
