Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital is a not-for-profit Children’s Hospital established in 1947. Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital is the most established paediatric hospital in Eastern and Central Africa, providing healthcare to children in Kenya as well as those referred from neighbouring countries. National Hospital Insurance Fund is a State Parastatal that was established in 1966 as a department under the Ministry of Health. The original Act of Parliament that set up this Fund in 1966 has over the years been reviewed to accommodate the changing healthcare needs of the Kenyan population, employment and restructuring in the health sector. The Hospital Director, the Chief Medical Officer, the Hospital Administrator, the Nursing Officer in Charge, the Principal Tutor, the Hospital Chaplain and the Finance Manager are the members of Hospital Administration Team (HAT). The Heads of Department work under the HAT

St. Joseph Hospital – Kahawa Wendani (SJH) belongs to the Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi; it operates in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church and the guidelines it receives from the Archdiocese. 

SJH was started in 2004 from a Home-Based Health care program: an effort by St. Joseph's Catholic Church Kahawa Sukari to witness Christ’s hope through the provision of integrated health services to the community. 

It is located at the center of Kahawa Wendani, Kiambu County, a very populated area with an average age of 18 years old. It serves the communities of Githurai, Mwihoko and Kahawa Sukari. 

SJH counts of 21 staff, among them 5 nurses, 2 Clinical Officer, a pharmacist, and three specialists composed of a Gynecologist, a Sonographer and a Psychologist. From October 2020, a maternity ward was inaugurated; this was made possible due to the efforts of all the staff and the donations received by many friends.
