The University of Mwaro opened its doors in 2001 with 3 faculties: Law, Health Sciences, Management and Administration. In 2005, 2 faculties were put on hold. In 2012, it opened 2 additional paramedical courses, namely Nursing and Midwifery. In 2013, it opened 2 other paramedical sectors, namely Anesthesia and Resuscitation and Laboratory. In 2016, opening of a University Clinic.
