Helwan Airfield is an airfield founded in 1919 and located near Helwan in Cairo Governorate, Egypt. The airfield was formerly known as RAF Helwan and played a role during World War II. The services offered historically included military aircraft operations, maintenance and support, fuel and hangar facilities for wartime operations and later for aircraft industry work. The activities include military aviation operations, hosting of air-force infrastructure, and potential industrial / aircraft-industry support. Helwan Airfield has been in existence since 1919 and remains part of Egypt’s military-airfield network. (ICAO:HE15)
