Custody & Registrars (C&R) Group is a company with over 30 years experience in share registry with operations in Kenya and Uganda C&R Group’s history began in 1986, then operating as Barclays Advisory & Registrars Services (BARS), an in-house department of the Barclays Bank of Kenya, to offer share registry services to the banks’ shareholders, after Barclays’ listing in Nairobi Securities Exchange the same year. In 1991, BARS was incorporated to offer similar services commercially to other listed companies and grew to become the largest Shares Registrar in Kenya. During a business review in 2006, the Bank restructured and sold some non-core businesses, including BARS, which was sold as a going concern. The company was renamed Custody & Registrars Services Ltd and remains the market leader in shares registrar’s services, enjoying a majority market share of all listed companies trading at the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
