Nigeria’s statutory body for science laboratory technologists, founded in 1972 and legally established in 2003, operating from its Ibadan headquarters to regulate, accredit, and train SLT professionals. The Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT), inaugurated as NIST in 1972 and established by Act No.12 of 2003, is the statutory body regulating laboratory science technologists in Nigeria. Based in Ibadan, NISLT oversees accreditation, professional exams (MPE), member registration, training, lab services, and operates under the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation to ensure laboratory practice quality across institutions and industries.
