The AIDS Foundation of South Africa (AFSA), founded in 1988, serves as a national capacity‑building and funding NGO supporting community‑based HIV, TB & STI interventions across South Africa. Established in 1988 as the first registered AIDS NGO in South Africa, AFSA works through CBO partnerships to support HIV, TB and STI education, prevention and social support. Key programmes include adolescent and youth, sex worker advocacy, people with disabilities, orphans & vulnerable children, rights and advocacy & small projects support. Focus on community systems strengthening and structural drivers of HIV. Active across KwaZulu‑Natal and nationally via partner organisations. Unique for its early founding and capacity-building backbone for grassroots HIV response.
