Animal Welfare Society Helderberg, established in 1949 and based in Gordon’s Bay, provides animal rescue, veterinary care, adoption and anti‑cruelty services across the Helderberg region. Founded in 1949 (as Hottentots‑Holland Animal Welfare), and relocated to Gordon’s Bay in 2011. Provides shelter, veterinary care, adoption services, rescue and cruelty investigations across Somerset West, Strand, Gordon’s Bay, Macassar and Grabouw. Offers sterilization, vaccination clinics, community education and animal law enforcement. Unique local rescue society with decades‑long presence in Helderberg region.
