The Institution of Fire Engineers South Africa (IFE SA) is the local branch of the global IFE network, founded in 1992. Based in Sunninghill, Johannesburg, it promotes professionalism, technical excellence, and education within the fire sector. IFE SA offers exams, CPD opportunities, competency registers, and international certifications. Its objectives are to advance fire science and engineering, influence safety legislation, and support lifelong learning. Membership is open to individuals and organizations in fire engineering, including firefighters, engineers, safety officers, and fire system designers. Members must meet academic or practical credentials as set by IFE global criteria.
