BIVA Foundation Known as BIVA, is a community-based organization (CBO) working in Mityana Town and Busimbi sub-county, Uganda. It was formed in 2000 by a group of community members concerned about the increasing levels of poverty in the area due to rapid population growth, the impact of HIV/AIDS, and loss of livelihoods by community members due to their eviction from forest reserves. BIVA uses access to clean and general purpose water as an entry point to fight poverty. This is because it is a cross-cutting intervention to improving health, livelihoods, environmental health, and sanitation. Through this approach, we have transformed the lives of people by supporting communities to construct boreholes and valley dams in the Mityana and Mubende districts of Uganda for the past ten years.
