The Ministry has been described in some quarters as “small”, but, in effect, the numbers engaged in Education confirm the opposite. There are 3 key targets for the Ministry. a.Education needs responsiveness to the direction of the national economy. In order to achieve that responsiveness, it is necessary to mainstream the mechanisms that ensure curricular review as and when it is due. As of now, and taking a historical perspective, this has not been done on a regular basis. b.To maintain the achievements that have been built over the years. Those achievements relate to Zimbabwe’s rise to pole position in relation to literacy and our pole position in relation to innovation as acknowledged by a recent Award in 2013 (SACMEQ) and the main streaming of ICT’s in order to maintain the cutting edge of our system.
