About Bikita Community Share Ownership Trust
The organisation receives most of its funding from a
mining company that extracts lithium in Bikita district.
The company boasts of being one of the world’s
foremost suppliers of lithium petalite and they mostly
produce tantalite§. When doing building projects,
members of the community bring naturally available
resources like pit and river sand and water for the
building projects. Traditional leaders play a huge role in
mobilising the people who volunteer to bring resources
for the community development projects.
