About The Hide Safari Camp

Get to know The Hide Safari Camp, our company background, profile information, and the public details we share through Africa2Trust in Zimbabwe.

The building of The Hide started in 1992 by the late Tom Preston, a charismatic and enterprising man who had a passion for wildlife and conservation. Situated on a private concession on the Eastern boundary of Hwange National Park and with stunning views across a natural waterhole, this was the perfect location to build a camp. In September 1992 after a hectic few weeks of final preparations and finishing touches, The Hide Safari Camp welcomed its very first guests. Sadly Tom passed away in November 1995 and did not have much time to enjoy this beautiful camp and the surrounding area. Despite his illness Tom and his wife Lorraine spent as much time as possible at The Hide prior to his death. The Preston family remain actively involved in the running of the camp to this day, fulfilling Tom’s vision of a family operated camp.
