Guiding in Rwanda began in 1962 with the help of members of the Guides Catholiques de Belgique. However, due to the lack of support from local leaders, interest in the Movement dwindled after independence later that year. In 1967, Guiding was revived as a branch of the Scout Association. The Girl Guides set up their own organization, the Fédération des Guides du Rwanda in 1972 with a small team responsible for administration. 

The Federation was composed of two Associations, the Association des Guides Catholiques and the Association des Guides Protestantes. A proposal was made in 1974 to form a single association, and the first National Assembly accepted this idea two years later. In 1977, the Constitution was accepted at a general meeting, a permanent national team was appointed, and a work plan was drawn up. The Association des Guides du Rwanda (AGR) received official government recognition in 1980.

Coopérative des Caféicultureurs de Gishoma (COCAGI) was established in 2004 and has since then grown from 267 to 1,114 small producer-members, of which 291 are women with 478,966 coffee trees. Located in Rusizi, former Cyangugu on the southern shore of Lake Kivu, right on the border crossing to DRC Congo. The cooperative is operating under the coffee umbrella organization of Rwashoscco.

The Private Sector Federation – Rwanda (PSF) is a professional organization, dedicated to promote and represent the interests of the Rwandan business community. It is an umbrella organization that groups 10 professional chambers. It was established in December 1999, replacing the former Rwanda Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Private Sector Federation (PSF) has registered major successes since its creation in 1999. Beyond a strong brand and membership base, PSF pioneered Business Development Services (BDS), registered wins in advocacy and played a strong national, regional and International role.

Yet, the business sector still needs to mature into Rwanda economic engine. While Vision 2020 and EDPRS call for a private sector-led economy, the business sector, We realize that a strong Private Sector Federation must also achieve financial self-reliance.

Established since 2012, Rwanda Arts Initiative is a non-profit structure intended to contribute to the professionalization of art industry in Rwanda, developing step by step a platform integrating devices of training, advocacy, production and diffusion.

 RAI believes that art industry can substantially contribute to socio- economic development of Rwanda as a sector generating wealth through sustainable job creation, economic diversification and cultural value addition.

RALGA is a membership organization that brings together local government entities in Rwanda. It has derived its reason for existence from the decentralization process, which is meant to transfer authority, resources, responsibility and accountability from Central to Local Government. The move is within the framework of good political and economic governance as formulated in the long term country’s vision 2020.

It's Legal Professional Organization that was created by an Act of Parliament in 1997 (Law N° 03/97). This law was amended by Law No 83/2013 of 11/09/2013, the law establishing the Bar Association in Rwanda, determining its Organization and Functioning.

Having started with 37 advocates, after seventeen years, the Bar’s current membership exceeds 1073 advocates after fusion of former Judicial defenders Association and former Kigali Bar Association.

The membership is made up of all practicing advocates, as required by law, and the interns who aspire to be enrolled after 2 years of internship. The Bar Association fulfills the role of Legal Representation and Regulation for its members and plays a key role in the Administration of Justice for a strengthened Rule of Law in Rwanda.

The Rwanda Bar Association is mainly comprised by the following organs:

The Rwandan Civil Society Platform (RCSP) is a non-profit organisation, founded in July 2004, with its head office in Kigali (Gasabo District).

Its main objectives are to:

• analyse the major challenges faced by the Rwandan population, and adopt common positions and strategies to address these challenges; 
• Set up and maintain an information system to enable the Civil Society to achieve its mission, acting in close collaboration with all Partners; 
• Develop effective partnerships at national, regional and international level; 
• Provide strong representation and advocacy for its members.

RWAFFA (ADR) is a non-profit making organization in Rwanda that was established in 1998.

It is an umbrella and representative of all clearing and forwarding firms in the country. RWAFFA formation was initiated by the Ministry of Finance with a rationale to work towards the development of a vibrant clearing and forwarding industry in Rwanda.

Apart from representing the member companies, the association monitors and evaluates the potential performance of the clearing and forwarding firms and above all, develops capacity building mechanisms and support systems that would enhance sustainable development of the industry to suit the current global economic growth and quality standards.

RWAFFA is very devoted to ensuring that checks and balances through self-regulation and promotion of best practices and enhanced professionalism are upheld by all its members

The Rwanda Scouts Association or The Association des Scouts du Rwanda is an educational movement for young people, based on voluntary services.

It is a Movement, which remains non-political and does include all religions. It is open to all without distinction of gender, origin, race or creed, in accordance with the purpose, principles and scout method as conceived by the Founder, Baden Powell.

Rwanda Women’s Network (RWN) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to promoting and strengthening strategies that empower women in Rwanda since being established in 1997, and has extensive experience in fostering women’s participation and grassroots responses to community challenges.

RWN has a localized presence in 17 districts with over 60 staff members across Rwanda.

The Youth Association for Human Rights Promotion and Development (AJPRODHO-JIJUKIRWA) is a non-profit, membership organization working to improve the situation of youth and children in Rwanda through human rights promotion, protection, research, advocacy, economic empowerment and civil society strengthening. AJPRODHO was founded in 1997 and is registered with legal personality N0. 19/11, acquired under the new law number 04/2012 of 17/2/2012.

The organization has transitioned from a small NGO to a nationally active non-governmental organization operating in all provinces and Kigali city.
