Alliance Girls' High School (AGHS) is a public national boarding school for girls located near the small town of Kikuyu in the Kiambu District of the Central Province of Kenya, 20 km from Nairobi. Founded in 1948 as the African Girls High School, it is within walking distance from its brother school Alliance High School.

Founded in 1948 by the Alliance of Protestant Missions, Alliance Girls' High School was the first institution of higher secondary education for African girls in Kenya, and served in parallel with Kenya High School which at that time only admitted European girls. Before Kenyan independence it was called African Girls High School. Alliance Girls High School sits on 71 acres of land in Kiambu West district, Central Province, originally donated by the Presbyterian Church of East Africa.

Aquinas High School is located in Makadara constituency, Ofafa Sub-location, Maringo Location in Makadara Division of Makadara Subcounty; Nairobi County. This is within the Nairobi region of Kenya.

Baringo High School is a national Secondary school located in Eldama ravine, Baringo county offering Kenya 8.4.4 curriculum. The School has been in existence since 1965 with initial population of 40 students the school has tremendously grown. Academic performance is very impressive. The school is currently the best school in Baringo County.

Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls High School popularly known as BeeGee or BG was founded in the 1960s by the late Bishop Caesar Gatimu and was run by the Comboni mission in Karatina, Nyeri County, Kenya.

Jamhuri High School, formerly known as Government Indian School and later The Duke of Gloucester School, is one of the oldest schools in Kenya. It was founded as a Railway Educational Centre in 1906. Prior to Kenya's independence from the British, the school, located at Ngara Nairobi, predominantly enrolled students from the Indian community in Nairobi, hence its former name Government Indian School.

Kagumo High School is a boy's national secondary school located between Kirichu and Kiganjo townships at Kagumo near Karatina on the Nyeri-Nanyuki road in Kenya.

It was one of the first schools in Kenya to allow native black Africans to sit for university level entrance exams, doing so in 1946. It is one of the best high schools in Kenya, with prominent old boys in Kenya and globally. It has several notable alumni including lawyers, doctors and politicians such as the constitutional lawyer Gibson Kamau Kuria .

In academics, sports and creative arts this school has a long-standing rivalry with Nyeri High School, with meetings between the two schools, particularly in rugby, and basketball the most intense.

Kangema High School is a Boys' only boarding high school that is located in Muguru Location in Kangema constituency of Murang'a County; within the Central Region of Kenya.

Kapropita girl’s high school is one of the oldest schools in Baringo County. It was started   as an intermediate school by the African Inland Mission on 16th March 1957.The official opening ceremony was presided over by Miss Yenish, the Director of the African women education in Kenya then. His Excellency the Second President of the republic of Kenya Daniel T. Arap Moi the then elected Member of the legislative council representing the Rift Valley interpreted the Director’s speech into a language that could be understood by the audience-(Kiswahili and or Kalenjin)

Present also in that occasion was the then District Education Officer-Moses Mudavadi (for the District Education Board schools in Baringo)

The Kenya High School had its beginnings in 1910 when a co-educational school called the Nairobi European School began in buildings designed for police Barracks. In 1931 the boys were separated from the girls. In 1935, the school was renamed The European Girls Secondary School and had its first Headmistress, Miss Kerby appointed. The buildings consisted partly of temporary wooden huts located on the compound of the present Nairobi Primary school, with whom the secondary school shared the present buildings. Staff housing was scattered in the vicinity of Protectorate Hill. In 1939, the school was renamed The Kenya High School.

Kisumu Boys High School is located at the heart of Kisumu city in Kisumu County; of the Nyanza region in Kenya. Kisumu Boys High is a Boys; only boarding secondary school. It is one of the best and top performing school in Kisumu County and the Nyanza Region; even countrywide.

Lenana School is a secondary school in Nairobi, Kenya. It was formed in 1949 by colonial governor Philip Euen Mitchell, known then as the Duke of York School, named after a British World War II 1939 King George V-class battleship. The bell from HMS Duke of York is mounted on a bell-shed bythe front school parade ground between the school chapel and the hall. The first students were briefly housed at the then-British colonial governor's house, which is the current State House as they waited for the school's completion. The founding principal was R. H. James.

 

The school was renamed Lenana School in 1969 after the central person in the conflict between British imperialists and the Maasai, the latter's spiritual leader Laibon Lenana. The first Kenyan principal of the school was James Kamunge. The referral to old students of the school changed from the phrase Old Yorkist to Laibons, the latter being a title given to religious figures of the Maasai.

Loreto High School Limuru is a National girls school in Limuru Sub-County, Kiambu County. It was founded by the Loreto sisters from Ireland in 1936. Sr. Teresa Joseph O’Sulivan, S.M. Dolores Stafford and S.M. Veronica Bradley were the pioneer.The school started with a population of 7 girls and has grown to the current 6 stream with a student population of 1074.

The first two students who sat for senior Cambridge certificate examination in 1954 registered excellent performance. These pioneers started a record of excellence in examinations which has maintained to date.

Matuga girls high school was started in 1967 and is situated on a 70 acre plot in Waa Location, Matuga Division of Kwale County.

The present school site was first an Agricultural Training Centre and later a detention camp which was later on converted into an Intermediate school.  The Intermediate school was converted to a Harambee secondary school for girls in 1967 and admitted the first form ones under Mr. Maclean Mbui  as Head teacher. 

In 1970 the first form four students sat for their ‘0’ level examination and in the same year ‘A’ level was introduced. In 1973 the school became a double stream. In 1988 it became a triple stream at ‘0’ level and double stream at ‘A’ level. In 2013 it became a National school with four streams.       It is a four streamed full girls boarding school with an enrolment of 764 (Seven hundred sixty four) students.  

Mayori Secondary School is in Embu County (Gachoka Constituency). It is a mixed day & boarding secondary school. It is located in Kithunthiri location, Embu County . The school is part of the Mbeere  district in the Eastern province of Kenya.

Nakuru High School is one of Kenya's National Schools located in Nakuru Town, off Nakuru-Bahati Road. It borders Nakuru State House to the West. The school was founded in 1927 as Francis Scott High School but later renamed to Nakuru High School after Kenya attained independence in 1963. The first stone was laid by the then colonial governor Edward William Macleay Grigg. It has roughly 200 acres of land facing Menengai Crater. Initially the co-educational institution was reserved for children of the whites who lived in the outlying farming areas and British administrators. All teachers, masters (as they were called at the time) were also white. First formed as a boarding school, it still allowed day pupils on condition that they lived around the school.

 

Njoro Precious Girls is a private girls’ boarding school, based on Godly virtues and geared towards providing quality education in the 8-4-4 system. The school started in 2008 and has been in existence for ten years. The school has tremendously improved in discipline, academics and co-curricular activities.

Oloolaiser High Sch is a government boys’ boarding secondary school in Ngong, Ngong Township Sub location, Ngong Location, Ngong Division, Kajiado North Constituency in Kajiado.

The school was established in 1967 and opened by the first president of the Republic of Kenya, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta as a harambee day mixed secondary school in the early 1970s. The present day Oloolaiser High School has grown and expanded exponentially to a three stream boarding boys only high school.The school stands on a 38 piece acre land with 640 students and 32.students.

Precious Blood Secondary School, Riruta is located in Kawangware, Dagoretti constituency in Nairobi county, Kenya. It is about 7 km to the West from the city center. It has a population of about 600 students drawn from every corner of the country. The school has three streams in every form. It is sited on a ten-acre plot and consists of class rooms, hostels, dining hall, a small field for sport, teachers' quarters, laboratories and staff rooms. The Catholic nuns of the order of Precious Blood Sisters established the school in 1964. Its enrollment was meant for children of indigenous from the immediate vicinity of Kawangware, Riruta and Uthiru who had been affected by the Mau-Mau struggle.

It is a public school run by the Kenyan Government, The Precious Blood Sisters, Board of Governors and The PTA. The school started as a single stream school but today it has three streams. The students are about 580.

St Joseph Girls High School was started in 2011 and is run by the sisters of St Joseph of Mombasa. The sisters established it as a boarding school so as to provide education to girls in a safe and supportive environment.

Mary's Mumias Girls School is a Girls boarding school, located in Nabongo location, Kakamega County; in the Western Region of Kenya.

St. Catherine Girls High School Machakos is a girls boarding school offering the 8 - 4 - 4 System of education including computer studies.

The school is located 12km from Machakos town, along Machakos Kitui Road or 79km from Nairobi. The road is all tarmac. St.Catherine Girls High School sits on a ten-acre piece of land and is 500 metres off the main road. Starehe Boys' Centre and School - popularly known as Starehe -is a partial-board, boys-only school in Nairobi, Kenya. The school was founded in 1959. It started as a rescue centre in Nairobi. Starehe and Brookhouse School are the only African schools south of the Sahara and north of the Limpopo distinguished as Round Square members.

Starehe Boys' Centre and School educates at least 70% of its students free, and the rest at a reduced rate. This stems from its founding charter as a charitable school. School fees are paid on a means-tested basis, with substantial subsidies paid by the school, so that students from all walks of life are able to have a public school education that would otherwise be beyond their means.

The entrance process uses results from the national KCPE exams and prefers to award school places to those who show academic potential.

Sunshine Secondary School was started on 14th February 1995 by our late former President, His Excellency Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi who was also the Patron of the school. It was his desire that he establishes a Christian Boys boarding school in Nairobi, which would be a Centre of excellence.

The Green Garden Schools are a product of their founders who dared to dream, back in 1991. This was a turbulent year, when the country was faced with the prospects of "new politics." Despite the uncertainty of the new politics, they believed that a new school would serve the country favourably.
