The Ghana Cocoa, coffee and Shea-nut farmers association was officially founded in 1980 during the reign of Dr Hilla Limann by late Owusu Gyami Ofinso, Soma Wura and Nana Nyarko, to campaign for better price of the crops, but the union can be traced back in 1948, when the colonial governor Sir Gerald Hallen Creasy ordered the cutting down of the diseased swollen shoots of Cocoa to save the healthy ones. The farmers then formed an association and joined hands with the African educated elites to demonstrate againt the decision of the governor famed in Ghanaian history as the 1948 riots, they argued if your son is sick, do you kill him, or heal him? To them it was a strategy by the colonial government to deprive them of their survival though the idea of insecticide or pesticide was a later development

The objective of the association is to bring together individual, groups of persons, Government and private organization, institutions and other associations whose activities are concerned with Driving and Traffic Education and the Improvement of Road-Safety

Since Ghana obtained independence, the domain of the provision of houses in Ghana has predominantly been left to state apparatus and semi state owned organisations to provide houses for the workers. Until that is in 1988 Consistent with the then Government's policy of private participation in the National Developmenteffort under the Economic Recovery Programme (ERP) I and II with particular reference to housing development, the Ministry of Works and Housing invited Real Estate Developers to a series of meetings, at the Ministry in February 1988. As a result of these meetings, GREDA, an association of Real Estate Developers Was established. Although the members at this time who formed the original organizations would have had very little experience of Real Estate Development and comprised contractors who had been building houses and homes.

In the face of shortages of agricultural inputs in the 1970’s, a group of mainly small-scale poultry farmers came together under the leadership of the late Mr. Adolphus Kluffio to form the Greater Accra Poultry Farmers Association (GAPFA) in October 1978. The new Association operated in a private residence at La, Accra. In view of its small membership and level of operations at the time, it was registered as a Private Company Limited by Guarantee under the Companies Code. The Association set itself during this difficult period, the task of supplying poultry inputs on regular basis to its members at very competitive prices. These involved the sale and distribution of inputs such as feed, wheatbran, maize, drugs, day-old chicks etc. to members
