Caritas Comores founded in 1979, concluded the first partnership agreement with the State through the Comorian Ministry of Health dated February 5, 1983 and amended 21 June 1994 and revised in 2011. The Union of Comoros is mainly a Muslim country, it consists of four islands which 3 are part of the Union of Comoros and (Mayotte) is a French department. Christians are non-originating.

The Permanent mission of the Comoros to the United Nations is also accredited to the United States, Canada and Cuba. The Ambassador is appointed by the President of the Union and presents its credentials to the countries of representation, in according the practice defined in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
