SOS Children’s Villages Uganda is an indigenous non government organisation affiliated to SOS Children’s Villages International, a worldwide child care organisation that provides children at risk of losing parental care with a permanent home and educational opportunities. The SOS Family Strengthening Programmes provide support to families and children in the local communities.
Main Job Purpose The Programme Officer is to support implementation of the gender mainstreaming project under the SOS Family Strengthening Programme in Entebbe, Kakiri and Fort portal. The Programme Officer reports to the Programme Coordinator Key Result Areas • Lead the preparation, implementing, and evaluating the overall plan of integrating gender into activities in the project area. • Identify gaps in gender mainstreaming activities and make recommendations on how to address these gaps • Develop programs that engage key influencers (mothers-in-law, men, boys, etc.) as supportive partners for gender equity. • Collect, develop and disseminate good gender practice to support gender mainstreaming activities • Provide support to the Family Strengthening Coordinator in the preparation of gender-responsive indicators and formative research designs. • Lead training, learning, and sensitization opportunities to staff and partners on gender mainstreaming and nutrition programming. • Prepare and submit timely progress reports including success stories to the Programme Coordinator on programme interventions

Position Requirements: • Diploma or degree in Gender and Development Studies, Social Work and Social administration, Social Science, Community psychology, or a related field from a recognised university. • At least 2 years ‘work experience in developing and implementing gender integration/mainstreaming programs, integrating gender into nutrition, education, agriculture, HIV, and/or OVC programs. • Sound understanding of current practices in gender and gender mainstreaming with good sociocultural awareness of working in vulnerable communities. • Demonstrated expertise in sampling techniques, data collection and analysis with excellent computer skills. • Possession of a motor cycle riding license (as well as practical experience in riding is an added advantage. • Able to speak and communicate fluently in a local language of any of the three mentioned locations. • A mature person male or female aged 27- 32 years Application letters enclosing detailed Curriculum Vitae, current salary information, copies of academic transcripts and certificates, a passport size photograph, telephone contact and details of at least 3 references.
