The team in Uganda consists of Stephen, Richard, Nellie and David, who together have a resolve to see children and young people thrive despite their challenging environments. Stephen is a highly influential community elder with a big heart to see children thrive. Nellie is a social worker whose drive to care means she is always on the lookout for children to support. Richard is a key vision bearer for Cheka Child. As a former sponsored orphan, he understands the difference sponsorship provides and the knowledge that people believe in you. Richard is now an accountant and talented businessman. Richard is married with one child but many other children in the community find Richard’s home a safe and welcoming place. He often has 18-20 children visiting his home for a meal.
