Inspired Women Uganda, In the Year 2012 redefined my perspective towards gender equality and Women Empowerment. My time at National Institute of Rural Development Hyderabad India and the numerous trips I took to the rural communities of Southern India opened my eyes on what women are capable of doing if exposed to equal opportunities. Regardless of their education levels, social class, religious beliefs; Women have an indigenous self motivation, will power and thirst for success that once ignited are unstoppable. Organising rural women in western Uganda, was easy and helping them form small help groups to work on their personal growth and well being seemed a natural call to me. However, the real birth of Inspired Women Rural Association was to come three years later during my service with Uganda Police in Mbale District in Eastern Uganda.
