The work started in Acholiland, northern Uganda in 2002 as Alice Achan, with the support of local leadership, saw a desperate need to care for emotional and spiritual wellbeing of girls who had escaped captivity by the LRA. Most were aged only 12- 16 years, were pregnant or had babies, and all had suffered unspeakable atrocities. Today the work of CCF continues to be locally led and staffed in northern Uganda. We work closely with local communities to help address the issues most affecting this war-ravaged region. Our vision is for the shifting of culture in their country as girls are protected, educated and empowered.
