Angola LNG operates one of the world’s most modern LNG processing facilities in Soyo, Zaire province. It is composed of a consortium of the most respected oil and gas companies which include Sonangol (22.8%) and affiliates of Chevron (36.4%), Total (13.6%), BP (13.6%), and ENI (13.6%).

Angola LNG has the potential to produce one billion cubic feet of clean gas per day for domestic and international markets. The facility will be supplied by the over 10 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves that are available from offshore Blocks 0, 1, 2, 14, 15, 17 and 18. The project is the largest single investment ever made in Angola. It is of national importance and central to the country’s plans to: (i) develop and benefit from its natural gas resources; and (ii) reduce gas flaring and greenhouse gas emissions.

The plant will have a capacity of 5.2 million tons (6.8 Bcm) per year, 360,000 cm of full containment LNG storage, LPG and condensate storage and a loading jetty sized to accommodate ships up to 210 cm.

The plant plans to receive approximately 1 BCF/day of associated gas from offshore oil fields and produce 5.2 mmt/yr of LNG and related gas liquids products as well as supply up to 125 mmscfd for Angola’s domestic gas needs.

The Project is expected to facilitate continued offshore oil development while reducing gas flaring in Angola. We shipped our first cargo in June 2013 and have safely and reliably sold and delivered cargoes to reputable buyers in different regions around the world.

Operations

The plant will have a capacity of 5.2 million tons (6.8 Bcm) per year, 360,000 cm of full containment LNG storage, LPG and condensate storage and a loading jetty sized to accommodate ships up to 210 cm.

The plant plans to receive approximately 1 BCF/day of associated gas from offshore oil fields and produce 5.2 mmt/yr of LNG and related gas liquids products as well as supply up to 125 mmscfd for Angola’s domestic gas needs. Unlocking Value

In the absence of a sufficiently large domestic market for gas, Angola is seeking a large-scale opportunity to commercialize associated gas from current and future developments and to commercialize non-associated gas from fields that have already been discovered in Angola.

The Government of Angola and its national oil company Sonangol consider the opportunity to produce Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to be of national importance and the cornerstone of its plans to commercialize and develop the country's natural resources and reduce gas flaring.
