Situated in the Horn of Africa, at the meeting point of three continent (Africa, Asia and Europe), Djibouti International is a Hub for commercial flights (Passenger & Fret) coming from neighboring Somalia, Ethiopia in destination to the Middle-East (Dubai, Djeddah) and Europe, especially France.
Its strategic geographical position gives it an important role for cargo transshipment via multimodal transport means, and a correspondence role for tourists visiting the horn of Africa.
1901    Beginning of the firts activities of national meteorology.
1937     Construction of the main landing strip of the French Army reserved to Air Force.
1947-48    Authorization to stop over in Djibouti given to other airlines: the number of civil stopovers quickly escalates from 99 to 125.
1948     Extension works of the landing strip are made in order to welcome heavier aircrafts and management of civil air activities is given to the French Army.
