The ministry in charge of the environment in Burundi was established with the establishment of the "Government of Unity" in 1988 under the name of "Ministry of Regional Planning and Tourism". The current status of the ministry was acquired in 2010 by decree n ° 100/08 of September 13, 2010 fixing the Structure, Operation and Missions of the Government of the Republic of Burundi.
