The project to create the University of Lake Tanganyika (ULT), which is a private institution, dates back to March 1999. It results from the reflections and views shared by the founding members on the evolution of the local and regional education system. , the future of its servants and beneficiaries, in an increasingly competitive national and international environment and therefore ruthless to scientific and professional mediocrity. The initiative to create this University is also part of a search for an institutional framework capable of providing adequate responses to the multiple economic, political and social problems of Burundi and the sub-region. Indeed, the dynamics of economic, political and social systems (all three being logically linked), require well-trained human resources who are up to the management of these systems whose evolution becomes more complex over time. The place of each society within this development process depends on the capacities of men to understand and master these systemic changes. The project to create the University of Lake Tanganyika of a private nature is therefore part of a general and specific framework.
