UNICEF is the United Nations agency that specializes in children and adolescents. Created in 1946, it operates in 191 countries to promote the rights of persons under 18 years of age around the world in terms of survival, development, protection and social cohesion. We work with governments, organizations, the private sector, other UN agencies and international cooperation organizations, among others. In Burundi, UNICEF has a very diverse portfolio of responsibility but all with the same objective which is to assist the Government and other stake-holders to fulfill children’s economic, social, cultural, political and civil rights.
