About Fonds International de Développement Agricole

International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has been working alongside the rural Burundian population since 1980. It has already supported 14 projects, 4 of which are in progress and 10 have been closed. Currently, the IFAD Program in Burundi has two programs (PRODEFI II and PNSADR-IM) and two projects (PAIFAR-B and PIPARV-B) which are being implemented in 14 provinces (Bubanza, Bujumbura, Cankuzo, Cibitoke, Gitega , Karuzi, Kayanza, Ngozi, Makamba, Muramvya, Muyinga, Rumonge, Ruyigi and Rutana). The main areas of intervention are the development of marshes, irrigated areas and watersheds, the repopulation of livestock, the development of rural infrastructure and access, rural finance, climate change as well as nutrition and capacity building. institutional. The main sectors developed are rice and milk. Gender is an integral part of all interventions.
