It all started one spring in 1985 when my dad, Michael G. Malak, visited a dairy goat farm in the Netherlands and discovered the beauty, grace and intelligent behavior of the Caprine race. He returned to Egypt with the intention of establishing a three thousand head dairy goat farm to produce one ton of goat cheese per day. At the time, this was a significant size even on a world scale.
In 1986 he initiated a unique and highly specialized, state of the art , agro-industrial venture on sixty acres of desert land alongside the Cairo Alexandria desert highway. The project entailed the reclamation of land to house a select breed of Saanen goats imported from Europe. The project was built to completely self sustain itself in terms of utilities; water, electricity, sewage, housing, agriculture produce (feed) and labor, all of which exist on site.
The expertise for the farm management and animal healthcare was brought in from Europe.
