The University of Bambey is the successor of the Regional University Center (CUR) Bambey, which was created in 2004 (see Decree 2004-916 concerning "creation and organization of a CUR Bambey"), although lessons there will finally start until 2007. This was at the time of the first experimental model of Senegal from CUR, net to date, it is still a unique experience. In the words selected at the end of the reflection seminar on the university card (30-31 October 2002), CUR of the missions are "to prepare learners to university education (...) and ensure the vocational training" , contributing 'to the implementation of the conditions for qualifying citizens through continuous training "and ensuring" to enhance and develop the assets (economic, social and cultural ...) at the implantation site and adjacent areas ".
