Product Information
Plant genus: Tillandsia/ air plants
Today the genus we are looking at is an excellent example of diversity because it exhibits a multitude of physiological and morphological differences.
They are called air plants because of their propensity to cling wherever conditions permit for example on tree branches, trunks, barks, rocks etc and also because they don't grow in soil.
Their leaves are more or less silvery in Color. They are covered with specialized cells called trichomes that are capable of rapidly absorbing water that gathers on them from which the plant survives.
They are stunning as standalones. They are also used as features in living art pieces eg terrariums and other arrangements
Air plants are easy to take care of. They need bright indirect light. If you are having yours indoors, place it near a window. Mist it more often with water if the temperature are high.
WATERING: you can in once a week soak your air plant in water like for about 5 -10 minutes, and then shake off excess water to prevent your air plant from rotting. Or you can mist it with a sprayer bottle or so every after 2-3 days
When the plant doesn't have enough water, the leaves turn brown or crispy so all you have to do is mist it or soak it. However when it rots, chances are less to revive it so always make sure your air plant does not have excess water for a longer period of time
Take a look at some of our air plants collection for both indoor and outdoor arrangements.
