Mechanism of Action
Revive is an extremely effective solution that rehydrates children and adults and replenishes body fluids. The Oral rehydration salts solution is absorbed in the small intestine, thus replacing the water and electrolytes lost.
Electrolytes – Sodium & Potassium chloride: Replace lost electrolytes
A bicarbonate source – Trisodium citrate – to correct or prevent metabolic acidosis
A carbohydrate source – Glucose – to maximize absorption of fluid and electrolytes.
Water to replace fluid loss
Side effects
Vomiting, especially if the solution is administered too quickly
Contraindications
The solution is not appropriate for patients with gastrointestinal blockage, renal failure or when parenteral rehydration therapy is indicated.
Interactions
These salts may interact with; Potassium Supplements/Potassium Sparing Diuretics Interactions leading to increase of blood potassium levels, Amprenavir; Atazanavir/Antacids; Buffered Formulations Interactions, and Quinidine/Urinary alkalinizers interactions
