The school was founded in 1946 by the Mill Hill Missionary Fathers when the administration of the Budini College decided to transfer the institution to a site with easy access to social amenities.

For the first three years, the Management Committee of St. Kizito Primary School offered to be the care-taker Board of Governors.

In 2000, a new Board of Governors was inaugurated with the principal aim of totally over seeing the management of the school.

In 1906, the White fathers founded St. Mary’s School Rubaga, which was running as a Primary and a Junior Secondary School. However, on 12th May 1924, the school was transferred to Kisubi and its name changed to St. Mary’s College Kisubi, after acquiring the senior secondary section. Later in 1926, this school at Kisubi was handed over by the White Fathers to the Brothers of Christian Instruction. The White Fathers at Rubaga Diocese from 12th May 1924 used the premises to continue running a Primary and Junior Secondary School. They named this school at Lubaga as Rubaga Boys Junior School, hence beginning the existence of the current Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga. It was running from Primary to Junior Secondary. The White Fathers governed this school up to 1955 and they appointed enthusiastic young catholic teachers like Antonio Lubwama and J.C. Kiwanuka to help them in teaching. The Ugandan School for the Deaf is the first school for the Deaf in Uganda. It was established in 1959 by the Uganda Society for the Deaf at Namirembe Hill on a leased land from the church of Uganda. The School is a Government aided Primary School bringing together all categories of Deaf children, including Deaf children with multiple disabilities. The school moved to its new site at Ntinda, plot 18 Ntinda road, 5 kms from Kampala city in 1989. The school's primary task is to cater for the education, interests and special needs of the Deaf children in Uganda. The school offers primary education with pre-vocation skills in Carpentry, Tailoring, Home Sciences, and Agricultural Practice.

The ‘Shrine of the Martyrs’ is located in Namugongo, which is a township about 16 kilometres north-east of Kampala, Uganda’s capital city and one of the largest metropolitan areas in Africa. There are in fact two shrines at Namugongo, one Anglican and one Catholic, and they commemorate the loss of 45 young men who were burned to death in 1886 by the King of Buganda for refusing to renounce Christianity. It’s a moving and uniquely African site of devotion. Such is its importance that in 2015 a crowd of two million gathered to pray there with Pope Francis. But this incredible site of Christian pilgrimage hides a deeper story, because many of the men who were burned in the fires of martyrdom were courtiers who had refused the king’s sexual advances. The Shrines at Namugongo reflect not only the power of Christian devotion but also the complex and difficult relationship of Ugandan same-sex sexuality.
