Driven by a profound desire to reduce unnecessary pain and suffering from life-limiting illnesses across Africa, African Palliative Care Association (APCA) was formally founded in Tanzania in 2004. We work collaboratively with existing and potential providers of palliative care services to help expand service provision (although we don't provide direct clinical care to people living with progressive, life-limiting illnesses). We also work with governments and policymakers to ensure the optimum policy and regulatory framework exists for the development of palliative care across Africa. G. K. Karugu reporting for UNESCO (1988) reports that a Mission on Education was set up to investigate the state of Special Education services in Uganda between 1987/1988. He says that it was recommended among others that Uganda should embark on training Special Education Teachers following the urgent need that was identified then. Down Syndrome Foundation Uganda (DOSFU) formally know us The Uganda Down Syndrome Association (TUDSA), is a national NGO based in Uganda with its major goal of Supporting Children with Down Syndrome.

EDA addresses these challenges through three main program areas: OVC Support & Sponsorship, Vocational Education, and Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights. The Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA) is the world’s largest, oldest, and most respected membership organization for employee assistance professionals. The association was originally founded in 1924 and has been affiliated with FIFA in 1960 and CAF in 1961. Kawempe Youth Development Association (KYDA) was formed in 2001 to perform activities that are beneficial to children, young people and other concerned adults (care givers) through mass media, community and person-to-person communication. It was established in 2008 and is registered with Ntungamo District Local Government – Uganda Misión: To promote and bring about amicable change, emphasize togetherness and co-operation amongst individuals in order to bring about a positive transformation of the community and as a result reducing ignorance, poverty levels, conflicts and corruption within the society, as well as introducing a healthy and manageable society within a state, and ensuring sustainable environmental management.

Ntulume Village Women Development Association (NVIWODA) is a non-governmental organization that equips women with entrepreneurship skills and capacity building for sustainable livelihoods. We promote family incomes at the grassroots through education. It started in 1987 and was registered as a Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) in June 1991- Reg.S.5914/404) Its membership is composed of individual members and Community Based Women groups (CBO’S) found in 10 Districts of Uganda. In 1987, the women living in Ntulume Village in Namirembe/Bakuli Parish, Lubaga Division- Kampala District, established –Ntulume Village Women Development Association (NVIWODA) to advance women empowerment at both semi-urban and rural areas of Uganda, who did not have an opportunity to access development knowledge and information. NVIWODA is one of Ugandan women’s organizations that originally founded as a CBO in the 80’s, and in its success it has covered a 32 Year Journey.

Palliative Care Association Of Uganda Formally established in 1999 and registered as a professional and National NGO in 2003, PCAU was formed to support and promote the development of palliative care and palliative care professionals in Uganda. It is made up of professionals and volunteers from all over Uganda with an interest in palliative care. Association members share palliative care experience and knowledge, thereby promoting effective palliative care. They are a national voice for its development throughout the country.

The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) is the umbrella public relations body of Uganda. It is affiliated with other regional and global public relations bodies such as the Eastern African Public Relations Association (EAPRA), the African Public Relations Associations (APRA) and the International Public Relations Association (IPRA).

Rakai Counselor’s Association (RACA) was established as a Community-Based Organization (CBO) in 1993 by volunteer HIV and AIDS Counselors. These were trained by Lutheran World Federation (LWF) to address the high HIV prevalence in the district and to strategically act as entry points to the community. The trained counselors were selected from the three major religious denominations of the Roman Catholics, Anglican and Muslims.

The organization was registered with National NGO Board in December 1999 as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and has maintained this status to date. The number of Counselors registered with RACA has increased from 60 in 1995 to 240 in 2020 and these are spread in the two districts of Lyantonde and Rakai where they serve their respective communities   asVolunteer Community Counseling Aides (VCCAs) in accordance with RACA’s Constitution.

RYDA was founded to promote the position of the poor disadvantaged people through assisting them to increase their socio-economic independence. The organisation pays special attention to the youth, women and disadvantaged rural-urban children. RYDA's principal mission is to empower people by equipping them with information skills, and providing them with the opportunities that enhance and strengthen their potential to influence their own development. RYDA runs programmes in Training, Social and Educational Training and Social Work. Within these programmes, health, income generation workshops and seminars, food, security, water and sanitation, among other activities, are addressed. RYDA boasts of its novel approach towards developmental problems, where participation of the people in deciding and influencing their development is central.

Single Parents Association of Uganda (SPAU) campaigns to achieve equality of opportunities for single parents -both men and women. SPAU supports single parents in Uganda regardless of tribe, race, nationality, gender, or religion. SPAU is concerned with promoting the welfare and development of people in poor single parent families in Uganda. SPAU mobilises single parents into small units called “SPAU groups”, reflective of the various communities in which they originate and also in which SPAU operates. A typical SPAU group consists of between 15-30 members. It is through these groups that SPAU extends support to the single parents and their families. SPAU is a small local non-governmental organisation that has so far survived on a limited budget to achieve most of its goals. The primary objective of the projects that we undertake is to ensure that the poorest and often most disadvantaged single parents and their children live better lives.

Soroti Development Association & NGOs Network (SODANN) was formed in 1994 out of a need to establish a development organization that carters for the information, capacity building and networking needs of the ever increasing numbers of civil society organizations in Soroti district. SODANN was the first CSO District Network to be born in Uganda. At the time of forming SODANN, Uganda was planning to decentralize its administration and service delivery. Today what was Soroti district has been split into five districts namely Soroti, Kaberamaido, Amuria, Katakwi and Serere that comprise of Teso region. Since its inception SODANN ably executed the following programme areas: CSO networking, NGO capacity building, human rights protection and advocacy plus empowering citizens to be active in local democracy and good governance. SODANN has grown from a small membership of 51 CSOs to 131 members in 2015. SODANN was also formed to organise and enable the collective voice of civil society

Teso Enterprise Consulting and Marketing Association (TECOMA) is a non-profit, non-political and non-sectarian development organization dedicated to working with men, women, youth and children among the rural households to enhance the improvement of their socioeconomic livelihoods. Inspired by the high poverty levels in the rural households in Teso, TECOMA is dedicated to working for improvement of the livelihood of the rural communities through empowering and building their potential to respond to their needs. THE ASSOCIATION FOR REHABILITATION AND REORIENTATION OF WOMEN FOR DEVELOPMENT (TERREWODE)  has created a strong grassroots movement which has been utilized to empower women and girls in rural areas especially on maternal health and sexual and reproductive health rights. We have restored the dignity of victims of obstetric fistula, a neglected maternal health issue by helping them access free treatment services and there after reintegrating them back in their communities.

The Association of Anesthesiologists of Uganda (AAU) is a registered company limited by guarantee incorporated in 2014 under the Companies Act of Uganda Act No. 1 of 2012. Uganda. We are a professional association comprised of expert clinicians, innovative educators and outstanding researchers who continually seek to advance the frontiers of Anaesthesia and Critical Care and provide outstanding care to our patients despite working in a “struggling environment’’.

The Association and its members lead in the provision of clinical care and in fact do look after patients who are critically ill or require expert pain management.

AAU was formed to bring together practising anesthesiologists to advocate for better work conditions and higher standards of practice for anesthesiologists operating in Uganda, a country where the practice of anesthesiology is just taking root with many people especially the general public not having well-defined knowledge..

The Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA) is a Christian umbrella organization, representing National Evangelical Fellowships in all Africa.

The membership also includes international Christian Non-Governmental Organizations or development and missionary agencies based in Africa.

Founded in 1966, AEA Headquarters is in Nairobi, Kenya where it is registered as Charitable Christian organization (society).

AEA currently comprises 40 National Evangelical Fellowships as full members and continues to work in the remaining countries to bring churches together for a fully fledged National Fellowship.

AEA is one of the regional associations of the global evangelical movement—World Evangelical Alliance (WEA).

The Association of Fishers and Lake Users of Uganda (AFALU) is a non government organization formed in 2002 by fishermen with a common objective/goal. Association of Micro-finance Institutions in Uganda (AMFIU)is the network association of micro-finance institutions and other stakeholders in the country. It aims mainly at further developing the micro-finance industry through information dissemination, industry lobby, promotion of sound practices among practitioners and industry cohesion. After realizing that there were bits and pieces of information in various places/ documents on the sound practices against which micro finance institutions could benchmark their performance, AMFIU contracted FRIENDS’ Consult Ltd (FCL) in January 2004 to interview stakeholders, assemble data, articulate and comprehensively document “Sound Practices” in the micro-finance industry.

The Association of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Uganda (AOGU) is a registered non-profit, professional organization with a mandate to promote professionalism, undertake research, represent its members at local, regional, international level and champion Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights of the people in the region.

The Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises-Uganda (FSME) was established as an umbrella association for Small and Medium Enterprises in Uganda to play a pivotal role in creating a robust and conducive business environment for small and medium businesses in Uganda. It is a not-for-profit membership association for Small and Medium Enterprises in Uganda registered as a company limited by guarantee in 2017. However, it was pioneered by a group of entrepreneurs in 1990 and has grown from strength to strength. Presently, it has an excess of 25,000 members nationwide. What makes our association unique, is our independence from Government, special interest groups and big business. We only speak for the SME owners, whose interests we represent. That is why our Board of Directors is made up of SME owners/managers from all over the country. The Uganda Association of External Recruitment Agencies (UAERA) started in 2013. Currently it has a membership of 219 members as per 27th June 2022. We an umbrella of agencies professionally working together to spur growth of external recruitment in Uganda. UAERA regulates and monitors the activities of member agencies together with Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, which is our regulating body that ensures every company is licensed to externalize labour.

Our member agencies source job opportunities from all over the world. The major destination countries are in the Middle East, where the economies are sustainable and therefore creating jobs.

The Uganda Association of Private Vocational Institutions (UGAPRIVI) is an umbrella organization for Private Vocational Training Institutions in Uganda. It was established in the year 1998 and registered as a Non- Governmental Organization in the year 2000 under the NGO Statute 1989, on Registration No. S.5914/3350. The Uganda Association of Private Vocational Institutions (UGAPRIVI) was formed to improve the quality and the image of private vocational institutions in Uganda, and to strengthen Business, Technical, Vocational Education and Training BTVET sector as a whole. Its main aim is to foster collaboration between private training institutions and to improve, not just the standards of the training provided, but also its relevance for the actual employment market. UGAPRIVI is a national organization with eight (8) regional offices covering all districts of the country. This ensures that poorer and structurally weaker areas are not left out of the initiative.

TUGATA was registered in May 1999 with 5 founder members. Today we are over 100 registered members of the Association, which is a reflection of how mature the Travel Industry has grown. The Association further established a Secretariat in 2006 to better coordinate its activities. Today, TUGATA has a fully-fledged Secretariat manned by permanent staff.

Uganda Business Process Outsourcing Association (UBPOA), is an umbrella association for the BPO/ITES Industry in Uganda. UBPOA serves as an advocacy platform for the Industry.

Uganda Change Agent Association (UCAA) is a nationwide indigenous Association of rural men and women, mainly volunteer development workers, who are committed to propagation of the self-reliant participatory development methodologies.

UCAA was established in 1992 by 75 Ugandans (change agents, development workers) who had undergone The Change Agent Training conducted by Quaker Service Norway (QSN). It was registered as an NGO on 11th October 1993 under registration number S5914/646 that has been renewed regularly as required by the law. The Association is also registered as a non-profit limited liability company under the Uganda Companies Act.

Uganda Change Agents Association (UCAA) was founded in 1992 by 75 Ugandans (change agents, development workers) who had undergone The Change Agent Training conducted by Quaker Service Norway (QSN). To date, UCAA has a membership of over 4,000 trained Change Agents who have organized themselves into 230 branches throughout Uganda

The Uganda Flowers Exporters Association (UFEA), a nonprofit organization was established in 1993 as an umbrella organization bringing together growers and exporters of flowers in Uganda. UFEA provides business development services to its members and it is through the Association that efforts to influence government policies that affect the industry are lobbied and advocated for. Membership is open to companies whose main activity is growing and exporting of flowers. Currently, membership consists of 14 flower farms. The flower industry is the third leading non–traditional export sector and the 7th largest export earner in Uganda. 

The Uganda Pediatric Association (UPA) was founded in 1993 as a body which promotes improved health and welfare of all children in Uganda. Patronage

The association is under patronage of the minister of health of the Republic of Uganda. The UPA is affiliated with the Uganda Medical Association which is the parent Association

Formed in 1974, the Uganda Association of Women Lawyers (FIDA Uganda) is a membership-based feminist organisation that provides legal aid services through a strategic network of offices reaching into 20 districts across the country. These offices, led by a national-level office in Kampala, are supported by lawyers, FIDA Uganda members, Community Legal Volunteers, and local authorities.

Since registering as a non-governmental organisation in 1999, FIDA Uganda represents a critical intersection between the promotion of professional development of women in the justice, law, and order sector and the provision of essential services. The organisation is also part of human rights protection, legal aid provision, and NGO networks at the grassroots, national, and international levels.

Uganda Athletic Federation (UAF) is an IAAF recognised member officially representing Uganda as the national governing body for the sport of Athletics. It is a voluntary, non profiting making body with the mandate of developing and promoting athletics in Uganda in line with the IAAF statutes.

Uganda Bankers Association made a constitution signed by all members and was formally registered with the Registrar of Companies in 2002. UBA is registered and operates as an NGO. UBA is recognized in law by BoU Statute of 1993 as a Body to assess and recommend licensed commercial banks to be admitted in the Clearing House.

Uganda Baseball and Softball Association (UBASA)  is the body that manages, promote and administers the affairs of Baseball, Softball and Baseball5 in Uganda.

Uganda Clearing Industry and Forwarding Association (UCIFA) is the umbrella and Apex body of all indigenous clearing and forwarding firms in Uganda with a membership of 430 Out of Over 700 Companies Licensed by Uganda Revenue Authority.

Since UCIFA’s inception in 1971, it has been the largest and oldest indigenous clearing and forwarding membership driven organization in Uganda with branches in Nakawa, Malaba, Busia ,Mbale, Entebbe, Katuna,Mpondwe,Vura,Elegu/Nimule and Mutukula.

It draws its membership from the entire freight forwarding fraternity and private sector particularly the sector of: warehousing, Transporters, inland container deport, and Import-export Companies, small and medium enterprises

Uganda Community Tourism Association (UCOTA) is the official umbrella body that brings together and advocates for the interests of community tourism groups in Uganda to ensure that the local tourist host communities benefit from tourism. Since its inception, UCOTA’s functions and scope of operations have grown tremendously across the country. To date, the association comprises over 70 member groups country wide, representing 2,121 individuals of whom 63% are women. The groups operate small tourism enterprises ranging from Traditional/ basic accommodation, interpretive guiding services and restaurants to craft shops, music dance and drama performances. The impact of the community tourism group enterprises to the livelihoods of the locals is already manifesting through a number of community projects supported by the groups by way of responsible tourism such as construction of clinics, schools, provision of safe water and literacy programs.

Uganda Cooperative Alliance (UCA) Ltd is an umbrella organization for all cooperatives in Uganda established in 1961. It serves as the voice of the cooperative movement both nationally and internationally. UCA also serves as the main cooperative policy advisor for the government, implements various cooperative development projects and is mandated by law to arbitrate and help settle conflicts within the cooperative movement.

Uganda Cooperative Alliance (UCA) Ltd has been at the fore front of revitalizing the cooperative movement and currently there are over 18,000 registered Cooperatives in Uganda.

Uganda Fish Processors & Exporters Association (UFPEA) was founded in 1993 as a non-profit organisation that brings together all industrial fish processors in Uganda. Later it formally registered in 1999 as a Company Limited by Guarantee and not having a share capital.The core business of UFPEA members is processing, value addition and export of fish and fishery products to different destinations that include the European Union which accounts for over 75% of total exports in terms of volume followed by the Middle East, Singapore China, Japan, USA , COMESA and the regional market.UFPEA provides business development services to its members and through the association, efforts are made to advocate for policies that favour the fish sub sector.

Uganda Fisheries and Fish Conservation Association (UFFCA), Kampala, Uganda.

The mission/vision of UFFCA is to have;”well mobilised and organised fishing communities capable of advocating for their interests and human rights and making sound resource management decisions at all levels”. This should help empower community organisations to actively participate in unison, and have collective action and influence on management decisions, and thereafter ensure the protection, sustainable exploitation, utilisation and management of the fishery resource. This is to be achieved through strengthening the capacities(sensitisation, education raising awareness, skills training, group formation, training for savings and income generation, leadership skilss etc.) of the fishers (fish workers and harvesters the majority of whom are the youth)

The Uganda Forex Bureau and Money Remittance Association is the umbrella Association of forex bureaus and Money Transfer operators in Uganda. A non-profit, non-governmental, member-based organization, the Forex Association was first registered in the names of Uganda Forex Bureau Association as a company limited by guarantee in August 2000. It was officially inaugurated on 27 January 2001 by the Governor of Bank of Uganda.

Uganda Freight Forwarders Association (UFFA) is an umbrella association of logistics companies in Uganda. Membership includes foreign and local companies involved with freight logistics, including customs clearance, transport, shipping, ICD and warehouse operations. The association has 114 members handling over 90% of Uganda import and exports.

The Uganda Girl Guides Association is the national Guiding organization of Uganda.  Founded in 1914, the girls-only organization became a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1963.

The Uganda Hotel Owners' Association (UHOA) is a trade and lobbying organisation that includes almost all of the nation's hotels, lodges and camps among its members. UHOA sets high standards for its members and those includes within this publication can all be recommended by our Association, from Kampala's finest five- star property to a more modest guesthouse far away from the capital.

Uganda Insurers Association (UIA) was founded in 1965 by Insurance companies to promote the development and expansion of sound Insurance and Re Insurance activities in Uganda.

We work to advance the interests of insurance and reinsurance companies by adopting a common strategy that encourages and promotes close cooperation, the exchange of business among members, builds on knowledge through research, influences the enactment of favorable legislation and represents the views of membership to Government, quasi – government and Private bodies.

The Association currently enjoys a thirty (35) company-strong membership. Of these, twenty-one (21) are General (Non-Life) insurance companies, eight (08) are Life Insurance companies,  two (02) micro insurance companies and Four (04) are reinsurance companies.

The Uganda Law Society (ULS) is an association of lawyers charged with ensuring high levels of professionalism among lawyers in Uganda.

The Mission statement is: To Develop a Skilled and Empowered Legal Profession in Execution of its Statutory Mandate to Foster and Improve Access to and Administration of Justice as well as Good Governance in Uganda.

The Uganda Local Governments’ Association (ULGA) is an Association for Local Governments in Uganda. ULGA was formed in 1994 by the District Chairpersons as Uganda Local Authorities Association (ULAA) which was later re-named Uganda Local Governments Association (ULGA). The change in name came as a result of the need to align it to the exiting definition of the Institution of Local Governments as per the applicable policy and legislative framework on decentralization and the Local government system in Uganda. Having been formed in 1994, ULGA has come a long way growing into a strong and formidable advocacy organization due to the support of its Member Local Governments, Development Partners as well as its Patron His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda. Today, ULGA boasts of its own home acquired on 30/02/1996 with the support of Members contributions from Danida and DFID. The ULGA House is located at on Plot 136 Najjanankumbi, Entebbe Road

Uganda Manufacturers' Association (UMA), is an industry-association in Uganda, that aims to bring together Ugandan industrialists and manufacturers in an attempt to guide the industrial actors in the country towards global competitiveness, on a sustainable basis. The association advises the government of Uganda in the formulation of national and regional industrial policy. UMA also serves as a collective lobby and mouthpiece for its members.

Uganda Media Women’s Association (UMWA) exists to see that Ugandan women can make informed decisions by having access to the right information on rights, and to fight for the rights of women working in the media but also not excluding bad portrayal of women in the media. UMWA believes that access to information is key to solving critical problems women face socially, economically, and politically.

Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) brings together all musicians in Uganda with the aim of music development, collective bargain and welfare. The association welcomes all performers of musical instruments of any kind, vocalists, musical arrangers, copyists or any other individuals who render musical services of any kind for pay.

Uganda Muslim Women Civilization Initiative (UMWCI) was formed and registered in 2015 with the main aim of empowering women economically to improve their livelihood & communities through entrepreneurship training, capacity building, skills development and income generating activities. Through Gender Equality, Agribusiness, Interfaith & peaceful co-existence and prevention of violent extremism among others. UMWCI operates in a number of districts working within communities and schools where most women can be accessed.

Uganda National Association of the Blind is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to positively transform the lives of those with vision loss. Uganda National Association of the Blind serves more than 7,000 people through a variety of free programs, classes and services at centers and community outreach locations throughout Uganda – from Kampala to various counties. We lead popular national programs like Braille Challenge and white Cane Quest. Our staff and volunteers understand losing your vision can be frightening, and we believe it is not the end of independence, but a new way of living. UNAB was established in 1970 as one of the first Disabled Peoples` Organisations (DPOs) in Uganda. The association has had it ups and downs over the last decades, but is currently a well recognised DPO in Uganda. UNAB also has a good standing with donors in general, as well as with the African Union of the Blind, AFUB, the World Blind Union, WBU, and with other DPOs in Uganda. 

Uganda National Association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors (UNABCEC) is a 28 year old non-profit, member-driven, national trade association representing genuine contractors, and other companies and organizations engaged in construction in Uganda. Our core purpose is improving performance in the construction contracting sector by championing better regulation and enhancing operational integrity.

The association is dedicated to fostering growth and sustainability in the ever-changing environment of commercial construction contractors, improving job site safety, expanding the use of cutting edge technologies and techniques and strengthening the relationships between contractors and clients. Uganda National Association of Cerebral palsy (UNAC) is a growing umbrella organisation of persons with Cerebral palsy (CP) in Uganda established in 2013 to advocate for the rights of persons with CP. UNAC is legally registered with NGO board a government organ that is charged with registration and monitoring the operations of NGOs in Uganda. UNAC provides a strong voice for a common cause, particularly to defend, protect and promote the rights and advocate for equal opportunity for people with Cerebral palsy in Uganda. Uganda National Association of Private Hospitals (UNAPH) is a membership national organization representing Private Hospitals and Private Clinics in Uganda. UNAPH was founded and registered in 2006. The main aim of UNAPH is to represent, promote and protect the interests of private hospitals and private clinics, their owners and operators, and to interact with members, to ensure private hospital sector continues to be dynamic in meeting the changing needs of Ugandans and protect the interests and rights of Private health consumers. UNAPH plans to initiate, foster and maintain a consultative, co-operative and communicative approach to dealing with Government, health organizations, media, community groups and the public. UNAPH also plans to be a self-regulatory trade association striving to improve the Private Hospital Sector through collaboration with the Government. 

Uganda National Association of the Deaf (UNAD) is a non government and voluntary organization bringing together all categories of Deaf persons in Uganda including those with multiple disabilities like Deaf-Blind persons. Formed in 1973, UNAD was registered as Non Governmental Organization (NGO) in 1989. It is a national umbrella organization for all grass root associations of Deaf persons in Uganda. UNAD is consulted by the government and NGOs on matters concerning Deaf persons and Deafness. UNAD is affiliated to the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) which has a consultative status with the UN.

Originally active as the Uganda Teachers Association (UTA), the Teachers' Association renamed itself the Uganda National Teachers' Union in March 2003 and thereby complied with the Trade Union Act of 1971. In 2006, these laws were updated with the Labor Unions Act. UNATU has been recognized as a charitable organization since 2006. With its 140,000 members, it is the largest and oldest teacher union in the country.

Uganda Netball Federation (UNF) is the brand name for Uganda’s Netball governing body. We are mandated to runand over see all Netball activities in and outside Uganda.

That is, run competitions as Elite and Amateur Leagues ie women national team, junior national teams, clubs, School Competitions, Regional Competitions, District competitions,Inter-cities competiotions Etc.

We are affiliated to National Council of Sports(NSC),World Netball (WN) and African Netball (AN) which make us a sole body to manage Netball as guided by the National and International Netball statutes

Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council is a a Professional Regulatory and Supervisory body committed to the Provision of Quality Nursing and Midwive The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council regulates the Nursing and Midwifery professionals in the country. It was initially set up in 1922 and has passed through a series of legislation, reflecting changes in the ever evolving professions. It is at present governed by The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Act (1996).

Uganda Oil Seed Producers and Processors Association (UOSPA) is an umbrella association of oilseed crop Producers (farming communities) and oilseed crop Processors (oil milling industries). Its current membership stands at 67 small and medium and Large edible vegetable milling industries country wide and 947 farmer groups comprising of 47,350 (21,307 female, 26,043 men) benefiting farmers distributed in 18 (eighteen)districts of; Bugishu, Teso, Lango and Acholi sub-regions. UOSPA, is registered legally as Company Limited by Guaranteed on 8th April, 1994 (registration number 27258) with the goal of; increasing the smallholder members’ income, food and nutrition security and a Vision to make Uganda self-reliance in edible vegetable production and consumption.

Uganda Pioneers Association (UPA) is a youth voluntary non- governmental organisation (NGO) with its head office located in Ochieng B Zone of Nansana Municipality. Registered with the NGO board in 1989, UPA offers youth with opportunities to contribute to community projects through work camps and international volunteer exchanges. UPA is a member based organisation currently operating through eight (8) branches in different parts of the country.

Uganda Reach the Aged Association (URAA) is a non-government organization with member organizations in all regions of the country. URAA was founded in 1991 as a national, not for profit organization. URAA is mandated by its membership to promote quality well being of older persons through its member organizations. The organization’s aim is to provide a platform for fellowship, mutual support, hope and a voice to older persons. Specifically the organization focuses on advocacy to raise awareness on older persons’ issues and fight stigma to older persons through a rights based approach aimed at promoting dignified living by advocating and promoting equitable access to economic empowerment, social welfare, treatment, care and support, and well being of older persons.

The Uganda Rural Literacy and Community Development Association is a local non-governmental organization, which coordinates a network of 16 community libraries in the West Nile region of Uganda. Its ‘mother’ library is located in Lokotoro Village (Aroi sub-county, Arua district). It serves as a meeting place for members to access information, mostly related to the improvement of rural livelihoods, via books, videos, newspapers, magazines, etc., and to engage in a range of activities. It also runs intergenerational skills learning programmes for members. The working languages are English and Lugbarati, the local language of the Lugbara people.

Uganda Security Printing Company was formulated as a joint venture between the government of Uganda and a Germany Consortium Veridos.

Uganda Security Printing Company Limited was formulated in November 2018 as a special purpose vehicle to revamp Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC).

The Uganda Small Scale Industries Association (USSIA) is a not-for-profit business association of Micro, Small and Medium Industries (MSMIs) with a strong membership base of about 5000 registered Micro, Small and Medium Industries. USSIA is driven to support and equip small and medium sized enterprises expecially the small scale industries sector of Uganda for success and economic growth. USSIA was formed in 1979 out of the realization that there was a gap in terms of the representation and support of professional small and medium enterprises that want to grow and become large enterprises. Since then the organisation has grown to enormous levels, However USSIA is still a grassroot based association representing SMEs all over Uganda

Uganda Tailors Association (U.T.A) is a fully registered Non profit making organization in May 2012.

The founder of the association is Mr Ssekimpi Philip Kakembo .

The idea of forming this Organization came as a result of studying the great challenges Tailors in Uganda face, especially to achieve business growth and improving the standard of living.

The Uganda Tea industry is 100% privately owned. Tea is grown on estates (big plantations) by about 55% and smallholders by 45%.

Currently there are 28 factories processing tea for the international market. These are owned by 17 companies and individuals 4 of which are smallholder association companies owning 5 tea processing factories. All the 17 companies/entities each, exports its own processed tea to the international market under its brand name. They are all members of the Uganda Tea Association (UTA)

UTA is a voluntary registered organization limited by guarantee, coordinating and advocating for the interests of members. It is a member of the East African Tea Trade Association (EATTA), under which the Mombasa Tea Auction is conducted. She is also a member of the international Tea Committee (ITC).

The Uganda Tourism Association (UTA) is the umbrella association that brings together all tourism associations in Uganda. The current associations include; the Association of Uganda Tour Operators Association (AUTO), Uganda Safari Guides Association (USAGA), Uganda Hotel Owners Association (UHOA), the Uganda Travel Agents Association (TUGATA) and Uganda Community Tourism Association (UCOTA). These associations together represent tour operators, travel agents, accommodation facilities, tour guides and community based organizations and membership is constantly increasing. Uganda Veterinary Association (UVA) a legally registered professional association. It boasts of a big membership of more than 987 veterinarians distributed widely throughout the country with some of them holding key decision-making positions in government and other institutions. It is among the biggest and well organized professional associations in the country having a fully fledged secretariat with five operational regional branches. Its main preoccupation is engagement in community development programs; animal welfare; policy advocacy; promotion of professional standards and welfare of its members. To do this, it works with government and several local and international non-governmental organizations and institutions.

UVA is recognized and highly regarded by government, national and international bodies. It therefore associates and partners with a number of national and international bodies e.g. it is a member of the World Veterinary Association; member of the Commonwealt

The Uganda Women Basketry Association was started in 2010 with a focus on economic empowerment for women. Its mandate is geared towards capacity and skill building for women and youth involved in handcraft making for local and foreign market. Its membership has grown from 200 to 1500 women located in Luwero, Kiboga, Wakiso and Mpigi districts. Over the years UWBA has supported a number of women to achieve economic independence through training and development, skills and starting other income generating activities. UWBA developed a strategic plan last year visionary for the next five years on areas of skill building for innovative products, expanding production, strategic partners, gender inclusiveness for business growth , saving and investment as well as resource mobilization.

Uganda Women Entrepreneurs Association Limited (UWEAL) was established in 1987, whose mandate is grounded in 3 core program areas; Building strong women owned enterprises, Networking and marketing linkages for business women and advocating for policies that create an enabling environment for women to compete favorably in business.

UWEAL has spearheaded the transformation of the landscape that gives women in business a voice to showcase that women are as capable to start and run a business as much as men. The association is currently firmly placed in the private sector to assist and provide the necessary support and guidance to women in business and to advocate for favorable policies through which women entrepreneurs can flourish.

Uganda Youth Development Link is an NGO that works with youths aged 10 – 24 years who are vulnerable to exploitation and at risk to HIV/AIDs infection. Mission to Enhance socio-economic transformation of disadvantaged young people through advocacy, psychosocial and skills development for self – reliance and reintegration. Our goal is to enhance human capital development among the disadvantaged in Uganda. UYDEL has built a niche for the last 15 years as a unique organization working in the area of advocacy, identifying, rehabilitating and re – integration of victims of commercial sexual exploitation. UYDEL currently operates in the districts of Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, Mubende, Mityana, Gomba, Sembabule, Bukomansimbi, and Rakai and our experience is drawn from previous projects aimed at prevention, awareness, withdrawal and re – integration of victims.

Our Goal is To enhance human capital development among the disadvantaged in Uganda.

Wealthy Youth focus Uganda (WYF Uganda) is a registered youth empowerment community based organization (REG. West Acholi Cooperative Union is a cooperative based, members owned institution situated in Gulu engaged in cotton processing and marketing.

Mission Statement To mobilize and empower women and Girl children both rural and urban to effectively participate in the development process.

The YMCA in Uganda was founded in 1959. It has six main branches, including Kampala YMCA. Other branches are in Jinja, Mukono, Mbale, Mbarara, Kasese.

The first mention of a YMCA in Uganda was made in a 1913 report of the World Alliance. The matter rested until 1947, when the World Alliance of YMCAs in Geneva sent Dr. George Haynes to investigate the possibilities for YMCAs in Africa. He met in Uganda E. M. K. Mulira. as a result, the present site for the Headquarters, YMCA Kampala Branch and YMCA Comprehensive Institute , was chosen.

All YMCA activities in Uganda are coordinated by the National Secretariat headed by the National Executive Director.

The Secretariat runs a computer school which offers skilling programs such as computer applications, computer maintenance course and electronics courses its also runs a Driving school.

The Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) is a nonprofit organization with a focus on empowerment, leadership, and rights of women, young women, and girls in more than 100 countries.

The World office is currently based in Geneva, Switzerland, and the nonprofit is headquartered in Washington, DC.

The YWCA is independent of the YMCA, but a few local YMCA and YWCA associations have merged into YM/YWCAs or YMCA-YWCAs and belong to both organizations, while providing the programs from each.
