About Matuga girls secondary school
Matuga girls high school was started in 1967 and is situated on a 70 acre plot in Waa Location, Matuga Division of Kwale County.
The present school site was first an Agricultural Training Centre and later a detention camp which was later on converted into an Intermediate school. The Intermediate school was converted to a Harambee secondary school for girls in 1967 and admitted the first form ones under Mr. Maclean Mbui as Head teacher.
In 1970 the first form four students sat for their ‘0’ level examination and in the same year ‘A’ level was introduced. In 1973 the school became a double stream. In 1988 it became a triple stream at ‘0’ level and double stream at ‘A’ level. In 2013 it became a National school with four streams. It is a four streamed full girls boarding school with an enrolment of 764 (Seven hundred sixty four) students.
