Children First Uganda (CFU) is a UK-based charity (registered number 1130672) which provides support and raises funding for a Ugandan NGO, CALM Africa. This community-based organisation aims to protect and promote the rights of children living in poverty in Uganda, through delivering education and community outreach programmes. CALM Africa works within local communities supporting vulnerable children and their families affected by extreme poverty, HIV/AIDS, malaria and other illnesses and difficulties. Many of the children they care for have lost their parents as the result of the HIV/AIDS pandemic and live in child-headed households. They also lobby to local and national Government about children’s rights, to really affect change.
