Our history

March 17, 1967 - Creation

Air Burkina, originally called Air Volta was created as a Mixed Economy Company following an agreement signed between the State and the Society for the Development of Air Transport (SODETRAF) , served Destinations: domestic routes including Dori, Bobo-Dioulasso, Gorom-Gorom. 

Jet service: Cherokee 6300

In 1983 - the extension

Network extension with bilateral agreements signed between Burkina Faso and neighboring countries. Served more destinations: Lomé, Bamako, Cotonou and Niamey. 

Flight Service: Fokker F28

February 2001 - Opening

Opening new horizons for Air Burkina with its privatization and takeover by the consortium AKFED / IPS (WA) of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development. 

Opening in 2004 of the Ouagadougou-Paris line with the entry into the fleet of a Airbus 319.

Since 2010 - IOSA Certification

The ongoing quest Air Burkina meet air transport requirements by moving up to the highest level of international norms and standards is recognized through the IOSA certification (IATA Operational Safety Audit)

Today's priority mission of Air Burkina opening up the rest of Burkina Faso in terms of transport of people and goods to help particularly its economic, cultural and human.

New Embraer 170 Aircraft
