Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) is committed towards driving the skills agenda for Kenya through providing young graduates with opportunities for practical learning. This is happening through the Technical Vocational and Education Training (TVET) Program.The TVET program is aimed at improving access to jobs and economic opportunities for youth in Kenya. This is in line with strategic pillar number 2 of the KAM business development plan (2017-2019) which is “Supporting skills-based job creation agenda and increase manufacturing sector jobs”. The manufacturing priority for 2017 also has securing the future of industry as a key focus.The program is addressing the future of the industry by ensuring that there are skilled human resources in the industries and also address the current high unemployment rates in Kenya often occasioned by lack of experience.Program GoalImproving Access to Technical & Vocational jobs & Economic Opportunities for Youths in Kenya Kenya Association of Manufacturers is implementing a TVET whose major goal is to improve access to technical and vocational jobs and economic opportunities for youth in Kenya. Targeted Skills for Internship
The model is 3 months internship period per graduate with a mentor attached. KAM facilitates travel logistics, mentorship trainings for supervisors and soft skills training. The industry provides practical skills training opportunities and assign relevant supervisors to mentor the interns. Industries are always free to have as many graduates based on their capacity. The program seeks to improve skills training towards high quality competency-based education and training that is relevant to the needs of the industry.Program Activities
