Lodge Overview

Ishasha Jungle Lodge is located 2km off Katokye Gate of Queen Elizabeth National Park along River Ntungwe. This is the perfect location for your photographic safaris in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park and a stopover on the way to Bwindi National Park. The lodge is surrounded by riparian forest vegetation and acacias Savannah. Ishasha Jungle Lodge is a small eco-friendly lodge, entirely made with local materials and African art, with its raised en-suite wooden deck cottages , spacious rooms and bathroom, all finished with canvas.

The restaurant offers international standard menu and dining area. The eco-lodge Ishasha Jungle lodge uses clean energy and power. Solar systems give 24hr power and hot water to all cottages. All bulbs are of low energy consumption. Solar fridge provides safe storage and cold drinks. Cooking is provided with clean sources like gas and alternative charcoal. Attention is given to waste management disposal and recycling of any materials. Water is safe as it comes from a borehole.

Ishasha Wildlife Game Drive

Ishasha Jungle Lodge is situated in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, an area which is commonly known for the famous “tree climbing lions”. It is also the best area of the park for wildlife photography. The game drive will give you the chance to enjoy the savannah and sights include the lions, leopards, elephants, hyenas, buffalos, giant forest hog, different species of antelopes like topi, waterbuck and Ugandan kob and many more. If you are interested in this activity, make your request at the time of booking.

Kameme Traditional Group

Kameme Traditional Group is made by a number of more than 15 children from the nearby village of Kameme. Our lodge promotes the group because it is a real and original expression of African culture and art. Particularly, they perform the Kikiga and Kyniarwanda dance, drumming and singing of folk songs as they tell stories about hunting and wildlife, crop growing. They also realized a new song commemorating the lions and our lodge. The exhibitions will take place from our camp fire on Ntungwe River.

 River Ntungwe & Kameme village walk

The guided walk starts from our lodge and takes you through the riparian forest along river Ntungwe and some cultivated farms to Kameme village, where you will see some birds and view crops like rice, coffee and maize.

You will visit Kameme Primary Parent’s School, a private school supported by the Association of the parents of children and having partnership with our lodge. You will interact with pupils and teachers and share your experience with them. You will proceed to see some typical homesteads and interact with the villagers. You will see how bricks are made at the brick making sight. Visit also the local bar where local gin is served (Uganda waragi) and see how it is made. The walk can take about three hours.

How to get here? 

Ishasha Jungle Lodge is located in Kihihi Sub- County of Kanungu District, along Kameme Road, in Kameme village, 2 km off Katokye gate of Queen Elizabeth National Park. 

The lodge is easily accessible following the signposts along the Ishasha Road between Katunguru and Ishasha sector / Kihihi town of the Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The lodge is located a few km away from Kihihi Airstrip, where are landing domestic flights from Entebbe Airport.

Our Lodge can be booked exclusively year-round.
